As we welcome November, our school community is turning its focus to a core value at the heart of our culture: Empathy. This is the "E" in RICE!
Throughout November, we are taking dedicated time to reflect on what it means to step into someone else’s shoes, listen with open hearts, and treat every individual with compassion and respect.
Empathy is more than just a feeling; it is an active skill. It begins with active listening—giving others our full attention without immediate judgment—and extends into how we respond to the diverse experiences, perspectives, and challenges of those around us. When our students practice empathy, they build stronger friendships, resolve conflicts peacefully, and create a welcoming environment where everyone feels seen, heard, and valued.
Throughout the month, our teachers and staff will weave themes of empathy into daily learning.
We invite you to partner with us at home by continuing these conversations. Asking your child simple questions like, "How do you think your classmate felt during that situation?" or "What was a way you showed kindness today?" helps reinforce these lessons in everyday life.
Thank you for your ongoing support in nurturing not only academically strong students, but kind, thoughtful, and empathetic citizens. Together, we can make November a month of deep connection and lasting positive impact.
Warm regards,
Mrs. David
